We’ve all heard about Lorna Jane and the fantastic fitness legacy that she has created over the years and this Sunday the 29th September marks an important day in our active society!

It’s Active Nation Day!

What does this mean exactly?

Well, did you know that 11.7 million Australian’s say that they want to lose weight? But 54% of these have done no form of exercise in an average three month period…

We form habits, some of them bad habits! We know fast food is easily accessed and getting off the couch after a long day at work is difficult… but this means that a majority of our population is all talk and no action!

Active Nation Day is all about making a pledge to make your life happier, healthier and quite simply, better! Whether it’s using a basket in the supermarket instead of pushing around a trolley… or promising to take the stairs instead of the elevator… or if you’re active already, setting that goal you’ve always been too afraid to attempt to accomplish!

The only competition we have is ourselves. Training the mind is just as important as training the body! If you tell yourself you can do it, you usually can!

So what can you do on Active Nation Day to take the first step towards a healthier life?

-Make meals for the week! Preparation is key in clean eating, if everything is ready for you to take to work, this will help you avoid snacking and grabbing takeaway food for lunch.

-Get up and get moving! Start your Active Nation Day by getting up half an hour earlier than usual and move your body! Exercise is great to do in the mornings, as your body hasn’t quite realised what’s hit it yet! 😉

-Plan a day out, whether it’s to the beach enjoying this beautiful Summer sun- take the beach volleyball kit down and have a fun day of games with your family and friends! Or plan a mountain climb! Don’t forget to slip, slop, slap and go at an appropriate time so you’re not climbing in the beaming midday sun! Go kayaking! Or even take a walk to somewhere pretty near you and take a scrumptious, clean picnic with you.

-Or gather some friends, or have some me time and hit the gym!

We have some fantastic classes on Sunday’s that you can get into..

Do our 9.15am Body Pump class for an amazing one hour workout, or stretch out at and work on your healthy mind at yoga at 10.30am!
